ABOUT WEARABLE SOLUTIONS
In 2010 our CEO saw an opportunity for innovation, learning, and for jumping into the next best thing. He started our Research & Development program where we take pride in designing solutions for all kinds of eyewear, especially in the realm of technology.
In 2014, Rochester Optical spearheaded a partnership with Google; releasing the first-ever prescription lenses and frames for the Google Glass TM smart glasses. It was this project that inspired the continuation for providing prescription and wearable solutions for smart devices.
Our Mission is to provide consumers and enterprises with a solution to the problems affecting more than 75 percent of the population with optical needs. Part of the problem is that for prescription lens wearers. AR/VR devices are difficult to use. They are not designed with a prescription lens or compatibility solution, and they often cause eye strain or fatigue after use. There’s also the factor of harmful blue light being emitted from these devices that contact lenses cannot prevent.
This is where Rochester Optical’s Wearable Solutions comes in—our smart lenses and digital glasses frames help bridge the gap so those with prescription lenses can enjoy the experience of augmented and virtual reality with the best frames for their own unique needs.
Have a smart device that you need prescription lenses for? Even if it isn’t one of the brands listed on our shop, we are happy to help you! We have a team dedicated to developing new designs and solutions so that you can experience your devices with the clearest and best vision possible.
Lens prototyping and scalable manufacturing are essential to the success of smart glasses development. Having worked with numerous key players in the augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) field, the R&D team at Rochester Optical understands the challenges and has successfully turned creative ideas into lens components to unlock the maximum potentials of waveguide and other AR/VR display technologies.
Here are some of the benefits of working with Rochester Optical:
We provide a state-of-the-art digital freeform facility that manufactures single vision and multi-focal optical lenses.
