ABOUT OUR WEARABLE SOLUTIONS
In 2010, our CEO saw an opportunity for innovation, learning, and for jumping into the next best thing. He started our Research & Development program where we take pride in designing solutions for all kinds of eyewear, especially in the realm of technology.
In 2014, Rochester Optical spearheaded a partnership with Google; releasing the first-ever prescription lenses and frames for the Google Glass TM smart glasses. It was this project that inspired the continuation of providing prescription and wearable solutions for smart devices.
Our mission is to provide consumers and enterprises with a solution to the problems affecting more than 75 percent of the population with optical needs. Part of the problem is that for prescription lens wearers. AR/VR devices are difficult to use. They are not designed with a prescription lens or compatibility solution, and they often cause eye strain or fatigue after use. There’s also the factor of harmful blue light being emitted from these devices that contact lenses cannot prevent.
This is where Rochester Optical’s Wearable Solutions comes in — our smart lenses and digital glasses frames help bridge the gap so those with prescription lenses can enjoy the experience of augmented and virtual reality with the best frames for their own unique needs.
